GO_TO

Τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2003 άρχισα να διδάσκω για πρώτη φορά. Τα μαθήματα γινόντουσαν στον ΚΡΑΤΗΡΑ, έναν εναλλακτικό χώρο τέχνης που είχα την τύχη να υποστηρίζω από την αρχή της δημιουργίας του. Την οργάνωση και διοίκηση του χώρου είχαμε αναλάβει μία κολεκτίβα καλλιτεχνών και  φίλων. Μέσα εκεί γεννήθηκαν σπουδαίες ομάδες και καλλιτεχνικές ιδέες που άνθισαν την επόμενη δεκαετία και ακόμα ευημερούν: η ομάδα της Μάρθας Φριντζήλα και του Βασίλη Μαντζούκη «Δρόμος με δέντρα», οι αξεπέραστοι Cine qua non, το καλύτερο τάνγκο της Αθήνας από τη Μαρία Καραγιώργου και τον Carlos Dall’Asta, ο εμβληματικός Άθως Δανέλλης, ο μοναδικός ερμηνευτής και σκηνοθέτης Γιώργος Φριντζήλας, καθώς και οι σπάνιοι ακροβάτες Χριστίνα Σουγιουλτζή και Camilo Bentancor. Εγώ τότε αναζητούσα τη φωνή μου ως ηθοποιός, αλλά κάτι μέσα μου με γύριζε στις παλιές μου αγάπες, που είχαν να κάνουν με την κίνηση και τη σύνθεση. Έτσι λοιπόν, όταν μου δόθηκε η ευκαιρία να αρθρώσω αυτά που ήξερα, μπήκα στη διαδικασία να αναγνωρίσω τα στοιχεία μου και να τα οργανώσω. Η δυναμική του υλικού και η σχέση που προέκυψε με την ομάδα με εξέπληξε. Εκείνη την περίοδο ξεκίνησε και η καλλιτεχνική μου συνεργασία με τη διευθύντρια φωτογραφίας Μαρία Αθανασοπούλου, και η απόπειρα σύνθεσης του υλικού οδηγήθηκε σε μια video art προσέγγιση. Μία αισθητική και φόρμα που έκτοτε με ακολουθεί. Συχνά βρίσκω  εικαστική και δραματουργική ικανοποίηση στη χρήση κινούμενης εικόνας και εν γένει της video art σύμβασης. Το concept που γεννήθηκε ήταν μια αλληγορική ανάγνωση της ψυχικής κατάστασης των συμμετεχόντων σε  συνδυασμό με έναν μαγικό χώρο που ανακάλυψα στις εξερευνήσεις μου: ένα εγκαταλειμμένο εργοστάσιο κεραμικών στη Χαλκίδα. Ο χώρος μετατρέπεται σε άναρχο εσωτερικό τοπίο μιας ομάδας νέων. Ένα άτυπο κάλεσμα σε μια αδιευκρίνιστη ανάμνηση συνδέει τους άγνωστους καλεσμένους δημιουργώντας έναν κοινό τόπο συνεστίασης. Μια συνάντηση με ένα παραμορφωμένο, θολό παρελθόν, ένα τραυματικό γεγονός, μια ερωτική απογοήτευση, μια οικογενειακή ανείπωτη στιγμή, μια συνάντηση με ένα κομμάτι του εαυτού. Δραματοποιημένες αναμνήσεις που μένουν στην προσωπική ιστορία σαν ένα εικαστικό στιγμιότυπο μιας άλλης ζωής.

In September 2003 I started teaching for the first time. The lessons took place in KRATIRA, an alternative art space that I was very lucky to support from the beginning of its creation. The space was managed by a collective of artists and friends. Creative theater companies and artistic ideas were born there that flourished in the next decade and still prosper: The company of Martha Frinzila and Vassilis Mantzoukis “Baumstrasse”, the unsurpassed dance company Cine qua non, the best Tango of Athens by Maria Karagiorgou and Carlos Dall’Asta, the emblematic Athos Danellis, the unique performer and director George Frinzilas, as well as the talented acrobats Christina Sougioultzi and Camilo Bentancor. I was looking for my voice as an actor but something inside me turned me back to my old loves that had to do with movement and composition. So when I was given the opportunity to articulate what I knew, I went into the process of identifying my knowledge and organizing it. The dynamics of the material and the relationship that emerged with the team surprised me. At that time, my artistic collaboration with the director of photography Maria Athanasopoulou began and the attempt to compose the material led to a video art approach. An aesthetic and form that has followed me ever since. I often find artistic and dramatic completion in the use of moving image and video art convention in general. The concept that was born was an allegorical reading of the inner state of the participants combined with a magical space that I discovered in my explorations at that time: an abandoned ceramics factory in Chalkida. The space turns into an anarchic interior landscape of a group of young people. An informal invitation to an unspecified memory connects the unknown guests creating a common gathering place. An encounter with a distorted, blurred past, a traumatic event, an amorous disappointment, an untold family moment, an encounter with a part of oneself. Dramatized memories that remain in personal history as an artistic moment of another life.
